Using scaling laws from the paper “EXAMINATION OF THE STRUCTURE AND EVOLUTION OF ION ENERGY PROPERTIES OF A 5 kW CLASS LABORATORY HALL EFFECT THRUSTER AT VARIOUS OPERATIONAL CONDITIONS” we have dimensioned the a hall thruster using the power rating of the Aerojet BPT-4000. The BPT-4000 is rated at 4.5 kW as the potential difference between the anode and cathode. The BPT-4000 is the highest powered Hall thruster in flight today, and is used on the Advanced Extremely High Frequency Satellite.
